only one earth

United Nations

One place where the world's nations can gather together, discuss common problems and find shared solutions

The United Nations is an international organization founded in 1945. Currently made up of 193 Member States, the UN and its work are guided by the purposes and principles contained in its founding Charter. The UN has evolved over the years to keep pace with a rapidly changing world. But one thing has stayed the same: it remains the one place on Earth where all the world’s nations can gather together, discuss common problems, and find shared solutions that benefit all of humanity.

a reason for MUN

Rotaract mora model united nations

Rotaract Mora Model United nations is implemented by the Rotaract Club of University of Moratuwa. It hosts a vast number of Sub projects. Sri Lanka Rotaract Model United Nations is the last and the largest subproject driven by RMMUN

Vision

Our vision is to discern a perfect Cosmopolitanism through diplomacy & global understanding, leading and empowering the backbone of the country, “youth”, providing them a solid platform to harness their potential to make an impactful change.

Mission

Inaugurate & effectuate a sophisticated arena for young leaders to unveil their hidden capabilities while improving themselves as better communicators, open-minded diplomats and soft-skilled professionals through the practice of Model United Nations.

Sub Projects

We do not simply host a Model UN Conference and end the work. We achieve our final goal through well-planned steps which include multiple subprojects. Following are the ongoing sub-projects that we have launched this year.

  • Colloquium

Colloquium takes its maiden voyage this year to allow MUN enthusiasts around the globe to have a better picture of what a MUN conference would be. This can also be marked off as a simple guide to expect at a MUN conference.

  • Congrego

Congrego that will kick start its journey this year will allow potential participants for SLRMUN to have better exposure and a broader idea of what is expected of them at the conference. It is our primary intention to give our participants a hands-on experience on MUN protocols as well as an idea of how certain crises affecting the world will be viewed and addressed by a delegate.

  • Covenant

Covenant allows participants to pick out of a list of world crises and to research further to find solutions from which not only the affecting regions would benefit but also be able to uphold United Nations sustainability goals. Best solutions were implemented via other projects at Rotaract Mora.

  • UN Days

A project focusing on international days declared by the United Nations. We expect to raise awareness about these days and what these days mean to the world by the means of blogs, competitions and many other forms of interactive social media.

  • Peace Day Debate

The World Peace day celebrated on the 21st of September is a day we all should gather around to celebrate in remembrance of our forefathers who shed blood and tears in its name. We at Rotaract Mora together with many foreign Rotaract clubs celebrate this momentous day by debating on topics that matter to keep the world peace.

  • Conference: SLRMUN

SLRMUN better known as Sri Lanka Rotaract Model United Nations is what Congrego, Colloquium and Covenant have been preparing participants for. This will mainly focus on topics related to UNICEF, GA3, UNSC and UNHRC.

Ideas into Motion

What makes Rotaract Mora Model United Nations outstand from the other MUN attempts is the fact that we do not simply speak and end it there.
As we are a part of the Rotaract movement, we always select the topics for our activities in a way so that most of them are aligned with our ongoing projects. Once we get the outcome, we will be implementing the feasible solutions through our other projects.

The outcomes through the sub project Covenant are set into motion through the projects Pearl Pacify, Manusath Handa and Andurata Athwalak; which are all signature projects of Rotaract Club of University of Moratuwa
