Colloquy

A glorious start to a mesmerizing journey. Colloquy would furnish our delegates and participants with an in-depth idea about Model United Nations, and We will take you through MUN related employment sector. We intend to conduct Colloquy in two phases for a better perception of MUN.

Phase I​​​

We will welcome our delegates with an introduction to Model United Nations.The session will address and discuss the benefits of MUN and how you can utilize these experiences for your own personal development and growth. A one of a kind experience will be offered to our members where they will be more enlightened on all the prospects they can conceive through the participation with MUN of Rotaract Mora.

MUN introductory session will be open to the public. The seats would be reserved on a first come first serve basis. Reserve your place now by registering with MUN!

The session would address over the below key points:

  1. Personal life achievements through the experience of MUN
  2. Benefits of gaining vast background knowledge about the international community context and diplomacy
  3. How MUN will improve verbal adroitness and communication skills
  4. How MUN can be an open platform to make good social networking through new acquaintances
  5. How MUN can be a chance to have some fun while engaging in personal development

District Rotaract Representative

Mr. Kavindra Kasun Sigera is the current District Rotaract Representative of the Rotaract District 3220. He is a past president of the Rotaract Club of Kelaniya. A former Anandian with his Bachelors in Administration, International Business, and his Masters in Strategic Marketing, he has paved his way to be a successful Business Development Manager, Export Executive, and an Assistant Export Manager over the years. He was also a TV presenter and news anchor of Sri Lanka Rupavihini Corporation for over seven years.

Chiranthi Senanayaka

Youth Empowerment Advocate
Youth Empowerment Incubation


Chiranthi Senanayake is a youth empowerment advocate specializing in the niche area of Youth Empowerment Incubation (YEI). She is the Founder and President of Hype Sri Lanka which is the country's first youth empowerment incubator. She is also the Founding President of the Young Legal Professionals Association of Sri Lanka. She was appointed as the United Nations Youth Delegate for Sri Lanka in 2016 in recognition of her community service. In this capacity she has worked as a Youth Focal Point to the National Youth Services Council and the Ministry of National Policies and Economic Affairs. Ms. Senanayake also served as the Global Ambassador for Sri Lanka for Youth Opportunities in 2018. She is a Women Deliver Young Leader of 2020 and the recipient of The Diana Award 2020. In terms of her professional and academic background, she is an Attorney-at-Law who has completed her LLB at the University of London and her BA specializing in Development Policy and Management Economics at the University of Colombo. Ms. Senanayake holds an illustrious background in the Model United Nations (MUN) field of Sri Lanka since 2009. She has been part of several Executive Committees of MUN Conferences, Chaired numerous Committees and has been awarded the Best Delegate of General Assembly 03 and the United Nations Human Rights Commission. She is currently The Secretary General of The International Model United Nations (TIMUN) Conference.

Seth Ganepola

Seth Ganepola is the Secretary General of Sri Lanka Model United Nations. He is a delegate, an un-volunteer, the secretary General of SLMUN. At the age of 21 he has been able to conquer many. A fellow Anandian with the background on great Oratory skills, Seth Ganepola will grace our platform to share his experiences and thoughts on being a part of this massive organization. Seth’s achievements can be cited as, Best Delegate at Sri Lanka Model United Nations 2017, LISMUN 2016 - Chairperson of the First General Assembly, HFCMUN 2017 - President of the Third General Assembly, LISMUN 2017 - Co-President of the First General Assembly, Sri Lanka Crisis Simulation 2018 – President of the Supreme Allied Command, ACMUN 2017 – Co-Head of Public Relations, Sri Lanka Model United Nations 2019 - President of the UNHRC, National Youth Model United Nations 2019 - Vice President of the ICJ

Kalindu Kalinga​

Mr. Kalindu Kalinga is a remarkable individual with multiple awards under his name. He has won 11 awards so far including the SLCS 2019 SC BD award, LISMUN 2018 GA1 BD award, RICHMUN 2017 SC BD award, DIPLOMATS MUN 2019 SC BD award, DIPLOMATS MUN 2018 GA1 BD award, RICHMUN 2018 SC HC award, LISMUN 2017 GA1 HC award, SLMUN 2018 BEST FPS GA1 award, LISMUN 2018 BEST FPS GA1 award, COMUN 2018 BEST FPS SC award and the SLMUN 2018 HM SC award. He has also been in two Exco positions as the president of the RIMUN 2016 - 18 and the SLMUN SC 2019.

Phase II

Phase II of Colloquy will address the following key points during the session.

1. Everything you need to know about Delegation and What it takes to be a Good Delegate

2. How UN Policy Making is done

3. How to implement a formed resolution after a MUN Conference

4. What you would gain from the implementation of the resolution

5. Employment opportunities that will be presented to you through MUN

And more than anything else, get to know how Rotaract Mora Model UN draws a distinction from the general MUN and how it stands out from the ordinary!

Sachinda Dulanjana

Former Speaker of Sri Lanka Youth Parliament


Being a former Official Sri Lankan Youth Delegate to the United Nations, Mr.Sachinda Dulanjana has achieved great things at a young age. He is a Former Speaker of Sri Lanka Youth Parliament and was a Former Asia Regional Representative of Commonwealth Student Association. He is currently enlightening young minds by taking the roles of a Motivational Speaker, Leadership Trainer and a Success Coach, while being a Visiting Lecturer on Leadership in the University of Peradeniya.

Phase III

RMMUN is bringing to you Colloquy Phase 3: Where Youth Leads?

The session is designed centering this year’s theme for International Youth Day; Youth Engagement for Global Action. Joining us would be our guest speaker for the evening, Mr.Mohommed Husni; a passionate advocate for Youth Engagement.

We are hoping to mold the young minds, to empower them to take the reigns of the world as future leaders through this, because as Barak Obama once said;

“Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek”.

That’s not all, tune in to find out the three winners of Covenant, how will be eligible to chair a committee in the most coveted RMMUN Conference 2020.

Speaker

Mohomed Husni

Husni an accomplished non-profit management lead, social intrapreneur, program design specialist and an experienced trainer with over a decade of professional experience in the development sector. He was selected as the ‘British Council International Climate Champion' in 2010 and ‘British Council Global Changemaker' in 2011 for his significant track record as a community activist and a volunteer since 2005. He was also an Action Partner of Oxfam International Youth Partnerships from 2010-13, managed by Oxfam Australia. Husni has also served as the Asia Regional Coordinator of Commonwealth Youth Climate Change Network.

  In addition to his local grassroot level engagement in leading projects & campaigns, Husni has also officially represented Sri Lanka, The Commonwealth & British Council at many high-level Heads of Governments meetings and regional/global strategic & policy discussions since 2011; and made significant contributions at a young age. He was also one a National Delegate of Sri Lanka to UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD) & former UN ECOSOC Youth Delegate in New York.

  In 2013, Husni was elected by the Commonwealth member countries as its founding Trustee & Vice Chairperson (responsible for Inclusion and Engagement) of Commonwealth Youth Council, which served as the official voice of 1.2 billion young people & provided a framework for youth-led development initiatives across 53 countries. He was also the International Co-chair of Commonwealth Youth Forum held in Malta, in parallel to Commonwealth Heads of Governments Meeting (CHOGM) 2015. He is also the recipient of ‘Commonwealth Service Award’ presented by the Commonwealth Secretariat.

  Husni has been an active Rotaractor and a Past President since 2010. He was the District Director for International Services for 2011-12 and District Coordinator for Partnerships & Outreach for 2013-14. In 2016, he became the DRR of Rotaract in Sri Lanka & Maldives for 2016-17 term and introduced #VisionToAction - a strategic vision coupled with change-management integrating 'Sustainability', ‘Conscious Leadership’ & 'Innovation' and recognized with the award of the Best DRR for 2016-17 in the South Asia. In 2018, he was appointed as the Director - International Programmes & Partnerships of Rotaract South Asia MDIO.

  Husni has also served the United Nations in various roles being a National Specialist to Consultant. He is also the Vice President 2020-21 of Rotary Club of Colombo City, an accredited facilitator of British Council’s Active Citizens programme and the Co-Founder & Director - Programme Strategy at Impact Voices, a social enterprise that promotes sustainable development by reimagining civil society, economies and governance!

2020 RMMUN Conference.

In a world of conflicts, there is a void for skilled diplomats. To ascertain peaceful solutions through diplomacy; without violence, bloodshed, and enmity.

Our young and determined delegates would be guided to conduct intensive research on their assigned countries and represent the nations as authentically as feasible.
